Review of drama serial Maat

Maat was a very famous and excellent drama of HUM TV which was aired on every Friday 8 to 9 pm. Drama serial Maat was based on novel Sehar aik istara hai. This was a tremendous Drama written by Umera Ahmed, Directed by Amna Nawaz Khan, and produced by Momal Productions. The drama was very simple and elegant and showed a fantastic picture which depicts the life of greedy women named as Saman. The story was about two sisters Saman and Aiman. Although these two sisters were part of one family but they were entirely changed and different from each other; their nature, their habits, their view points are very dissimilar. Aiman was very generous where as Saman was a covetous and usually snatch whatever her sister had. The cast of the drama was Amina Sheikh as Aiman ,Saba Qamar as Saman ,Adnan Siddiqui as Faisal,Asad Malik as Azam, Noor Hasan as Hadid, Shameem Hilali as Faisal's mother,Rabia Noreen as Aiman & Saman's mother, and Samina Ahmad. This drama was broadcast on September 9, 2011.

Saman and Aiman were poles apart. These two sisters were belong to middle class family as Aiman was showed very nice, and believes in sacrifice and compassion, she always respect elders and always done what was best for her family and uphold them as guide force. Whereas Samaan was very mean and wanted to become very rich and just because of her countless other desirers she ruined the lives of many people who actually loved her allot. She thought that she could give maat to anyone and could do all she want. Aiman and Saman’s cousin, wished to marry Saman, as he thought she’s more beautiful than her older sister who he was engaged to. So he broke the engagement and proposed Saman but she refused bcause Faisal was not very rich and stand well financially that time. Aiaman get engaged with him again and soon he got success in business. Saman was a jelous person from starting and she never thought about her sister’s relationship and started an affair ith her cousin and demands him to break the engagement again and marry her. Aiman did not reveal her feelings watched attended their marriage happily. After marriage Saman’s  became more snobby and she wanted Faisal to followed her commands and soon they had a baby named Hadid which was not treated by Samman she usually puts Hadid’s responsibilities on Aiman and she gave him a mother care. Saman did not spent her married life very nicely and soon started an affair with Faisal’s business partner who was more rich then faisal. Saman broke up her relation with Faisal and soon gets married with his business partner. Faisal was alone now so his mother and his aunt decided to get Faisal and Aiman married so Hadid got proper family and mother. On other hand Saman was very happy with her new husband she spent allot of his husband’s money and made her friends jealous of her as she had everything. But the good time passed very quickly and the happy life of Saman and Azam got spoiled and soon Azam spread wrong rumors about Saman that she’s a characterless women etc. Time passed and Hadid became 27 years old and get married soon. Aiman and Faisal loved Hadid extremely but they hide the truth of Saman from him. Faisal did not give Aiman her true rights as a wife. Aiman was content with this way of living until one day she finds a picture of Saman in Faisal's mobile, it is soon revealed that Azam had died recently and after his death Saman and Faisal had begun an affair. Faisal planned to marry Saman again and they both try to convince Hadid to stay with them because they were his real parents. So they lies to him that it was Aiman who had brought rifts between Faisal and Saman and it was because of her that they had divorced. Confused by these chain of events Hadid began questioning Aiman's ways and became cold towards her. Soon Faisal gave Aiman divorce. Innocent Aiman tried hard by reminding Faisal that what had Saman done with him but he did not listen.  Aiman was alone once again she was broken totally and stayed at her guard’s home because she did not want to live in Faisal’s home so she entered in new life. At  the other hand Hadid was very depressed because Aiman was not answering to his calls, he came from abroad finding his mother and father but found Saman and Faisal so he became very angry and realized them that they both are very selfish. He told Saman that she was never his mother as she returned only when there was nothing else left for her in her old life while his father was the most unappreciative person ever. He tells his parents that he was going to look for his real mother. Hadid soon find Aiman and give Maat to his selfish parents. Aiman was again very happy with his son and daughter in law and grandson whereas Saman was alone and living unhappily so one day she called Aiman and said sorry to her.

The acting of characters were very predictable and the shoots were very simple the director wanted everything natural and he succeeded in doing so .The main set of the drama was mainly home of Aiman but what made this drama a huge success was its fantastic camera angel and acting. Saba Qamar as Saman was one name which was out standing in her acting although Aiman was extraordinary as well. Other characters also gave full justice to their drama and roles.

Talking about set design it is not that much marvelous because director need everything natural and middle class family was shown according to the need of script. Camera angle, lights and dialogues were of very good quality and overall the series went well and high rated.

The drama became famous and in my opinion it was one of the best dramas I've ever seen, everything was so natural and story lines, each plot were tremendous. I especially like the script of the drama and the sister factor in it because whatever Saman had done with Aiman she could took her revenge but she did not done anything like this because Aiman loved her sister. The ending was also very good because at one time I thought that the ending was very bad but suddenly the story changed and all went well instead of one thing according to me Faisal should realize that Saman was never perfect for her and he should come back to Aiman. Overall it was an excellent production.
